Hailing from Japan, the Fostex company displayed the G1302
floorstander, a slim three-way design that uses proprietary drive units and has a
beautiful red stained-wood finish. The cost is $4200 per pair. Fostex
offers other speakers as well.
Ah, a ProAc soft-dome tweeter is a wonderful thing! ProAc
displayed two
new speakers: the slim TriTower ($4000 per pair), which features three 4 1/2"
bass drivers along with a 4 1/2" midrange and 1" tweeter. The smaller Response
D2 ($3500 per pair) is a two-way minimonitor with a 6 1/2" woofer and a 1"
silk-dome tweeter. It is a further refinement of the well-known Response 2.
Gallo Acoustics debuted the new Strada,
which falls between the Reference AV and ADiva Ti. The new speaker features two
4" carbon-fiber drivers and Gallo's proprietary CDTII tweeter, shown above. The
Strada costs $899 each, not including the stand.
Lansche Audio's No. 8 makes up for its pedestrian name with
impressive looks. It
features a Corona plasma tweeter, four 8" midrange drivers, and four active 12"
woofers, so theres certainly no shortage of drive units. The bass drivers are
powered by four 300W amplifiers per speaker. The price has not yet been set, but we're
sure this speaker won't be cheap.
Joachim Gerhard's latest speaker is the Amerigo, a
three-way floorstanding model that uses a ring-radiator tweeter. The Amerigo costs $5500
per pair in several different dramatic wood finishes.
Silverline Audios Alan Yun was proud of his newest
speaker, the three-way floorstanding La Folia II ($12,000 per pair.). With a
stunning glossy finish and top-level drivers, including a ceramic tweeter, this
speaker may be Alan's best yet.
