January 7 - Part 2

This has to be a Mark Levinson amp. The No. 532 stereo amplifier puts out 400Wpc and is claimed to offer 50 amps of peak-to-peak current.

The drivers of the Eben speakers, including the ribbon tweeter shown here, are all made by the company and look very high-tech. The C1.0 two-way stand-mounted minimonitor is priced at $12,700 per pair.

Remember the stereo receiver? So does Sherwood, which has devised a solution for playing back multichannel audio sources such as SACD or DVD-Audio players through a two-channel system. The RX-4503 has a 5.1 channel input that will convert the signal to stereo and output it with Dolby Virtual Speaker or Dolby Headphone processing to simulate a surround speaker system. It is priced at only $149.

Jaton Corporation showed the new Operetta AP2300A power amplifier, a class-A stereo model capable of outputting 300Wpc into a 4-ohm load. Price is estimated to be $4000 when the amp is available in the first quarter of 2008. [www.jatonhp.com]

A joint venture between Ayre Acoustics and DPS is this soon-to-be-available turntable, which has an expertly designed and massively built power supply. Pricing has not yet been set.

Crystal Cable's new Dreamline interconnects and speaker cables are the company's most expensive, though they retain the overall look of their lower-priced brethren. A one-meter pair of interconnects cost € 4500. The matching Dreamline speaker cables are € 9500 for a two-meter set. [www.crystalcable.com]
