A new preamp from Audio Research is always newsworthy.
Shown here is the SP17 ($3495 with phono stage, $2995 without). The new model is said to
have 11dB less noise than its predecessor along with 4dB more gain in the phono stage. It

Aaudio Imports showed The Source balanced tube CD player
from German manufacturer Einstein. It uses 6H30 tubes, features 24-bit DACs, and is priced
at $15,200.

Millennium Audio/Vision is a German company
that makes a wide array of accessories, many of which will appeal to analog enthusiasts.
The company has just procured US distribution through Aaudio Imports, which distributes
Acapella and Einstein products also from Germany. You'll read more about Millennium
products on SoundStage! later in the year.

The B&W Liberty is a
complete, wireless, powered speaker system that can support up to eight channels. The
DVD-based control unit will auto detect any wireless Liberty speakers within its range,
and the user need only specify which channel of audio information to send to which
speaker. The subwoofer is also wireless. It is expected to be available sometime in the
next six months with a price in the range of $15,000 to $18,000.



The Streamline 100 speaker from
Monster Cable is available with a variety of detachable colored side panels to match most
decors. It is available as a stereo pair for $600 or as part of a full 5.1 channel system
for $2000.
